Dario Fo narrates the life and miracles of Saint Francis of Assisi in such an enchanting way ... though it might be not considered his "masterpiece", I loved it a lot. It can be hard for a non-Italian speaker, but the representation given in theatre is fascinating even if it is in Italian (and partly in his "grammelot style) ... and every one can understand everything!

It is a great example of Fo's histrionic ability. His capacity of recreating a languge used in the middle ages and the phylological study of the medieval stories is spectacular, even if under this aspect is a bit difficult to appreciate for non-Italian speakers. But for everyone his mocking the power is fantastic, and it makes you think. Fo gives voice as anyone else to the poorest and voiceless part of mankind ...
