				The History of Accelerators
				In some 70 years the accelerators have grown from the 13 cm diameter cyclotron of E. Lawrence, which accelerated protons to an energy of 80 keV, to the 27 km circumference collider accelerating proton beams to an energy of 7 TeV.

The 13 cm diameter cyclotron constructed by E. Lawrence in 1931 accelerated protons to an energy of 80 keV.

The 27 km circumference proton collider at CERN which will be ready in 2005.
