The Nobel Stamps of 1965

The stamps portray the Nobel Laureates of 1905:

ROBERT KOCH (1843–1910), Germany, doctor, director of the Institute for Infectious Diseases in Berlin, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "in recognition of his researches and discoveries about tuberculosis."

HENRYK SIENKIEWICZ (1846–1916), Poland, writer, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature "in recognition of his considerable merits as an epic author."

PHILIPP EDWARD ANTON LENARD (1862–1947), Germany, professor at the universities of Kiel and Heidelberg, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for "his works about the cathode rays."

JOHANN FRIEDRICH WILHELM ADOLF von BAEYER (1835–1917), Germany, professor at the university of Munich, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry "in recognition of his services concerning the evolution of the organic chemistry and the chemical industry through his works on organic colorants and hydro aromatic combinations."
