The Nobel Stamps of 1968

The stamps portray the Nobel Laureates of 1908:

GABRIEL LIPPMANN (1845–1921), French physicist, professor at the University of Sorbonne in Paris, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics "for his method of reproducing colours photographically based on the phenomenon of interference."

RUDOLF CHRISTOPH EUCKEN (1846–1926), German philosopher, professor at Jena, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature "in recognition of his earnest search for truth, his penetrating power of thought, his wide range of vision, and the warmth and strength in presentation with which in his numerous works he has vindicated and developed an idealistic philosophy of life."

ELIE MECHNIKOV (1845–1916), Russian zoologist and bacteriologist, professor at the Institute Pasteur, Paris, and PAUL EHRLICH (1854-1915), German physician and bacteriologist, professor at the University at Göttingen, were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "in recognition of their work on immunity".

ERNEST RUTHERFORD (1871–1937), English atomic physicist, professor at the Victoria University, Manchester, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for his investigations into the disintegration of the elements, and the chemistry of radioactive substances."
