The stamps portray Nobel Peace Prize Laureates:
BERTHA von SUTTNER (1843–1914), Austria, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1905 for the role she played in the European peace movement. Through her friendship with Alfred Nobel she inspired him to found the Peace Prize.
CARL von OSSIETZKY (1889–1938), German journalist and pacifist who revealed the secret rearmament preparations under the Weimar republic. He was awarded the 1935 Nobel Peace Prize in 1936 while imprisoned in a concentration camp.
ALBERT LUTULI (1898–1967) was one of the leaders of the African National Congress (ANC). In 1961 Lutuli was the first person to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (for 1960) for having fought against racial discrimination.
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. (1929–1968), American pastor and pacifist, has been called America's Gandhi for his policy of non-violence. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assasinated in 1968.
MOTHER TERESA, (1910–1997) born in Yugoslavia, ran from Calcutta her worldwide activities for the poorest of the poor. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
