The Nobel Stamps of 1991

The stamps were engraved by Lars Sjöblom, Czeslaw Slania, Piotr Naszarkowski and Martin Mörck after originals by Ingalill Axelsson, who also made the illustration of the First Day Cover. The stamps were printed by recess at Sweden Post Stamps.

The stamps portray Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and a Nobel Laureate in Literature:

HENRI DUNANT from Switzerland received the very first Nobel Peace Prize in 1901. He is perhaps best-known as the founder of the Red Cross.

ALBERT SCHWEITZER , French theologian, philosopher and missionary doctor, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953.

The Swede ALVA MYRDAL worked in many different ways for world disarmament and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1982.

The nuclear physicist, ANDREI SAKHAROV, Nobel Literature Laureate in 1975, was a Soviet dissident who waged a hard battle for human rights in his home country.
