The stamps portray Nobel Laureates in Literature:
ERIK AXEL
KARLFELDT
Erik Axel Karlfeldt's name is mainly associated with Fridolin,
his alter ego, e.g. in the book of verse "Fridolin's Pleasure
garden". Karlfeldt (1864–1931) was elected to the Swedish Academy
in 1904 and became its Permanent Secretary in 1912. He was
awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature posthumously in
1931.
EYVIND JOHNSON,
HARRY
MARTINSON
Eyvind Johnson (1900–1976) and Harry Martinson
(1904–1978) both had grim childhoods. They have described
their experiences in brilliant literary form, e.g. in "Flowering
Nettle" and "The Novel about Olof," respectively. They shared the
Nobel Prize in Literature 1974.
