The Nobel Stamps of 1998

The stamps were designed by Lars Sjööblom after photos taken by Gunnar Sjöwall and David Goldblatt. They were engraved by Lars Sjööblom and Czeslaw Slania and printed by recess print at Sweden Post Stamps. FDC and cancellation: Lars Sjööblom.

 

The stamps portray Nobel Laureates in Literature:

NADINE GORDIMER
Nadine Gordimer has spent her whole life fighting the apartheid system and its social injustices in novels, short stories and essays. She was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1991.

SIGRID UNDSET
The Norwegian writer Sigrid Undset's (1882–1949) greatest work is Kristin Lavransdatter, which is set in the plague years in Norway in the 14th century. Her work won her the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1928.
