The Nobel Banquet 2005

The banquet starts inside the Stockholm City Hall in Sweden, where the distinguished guests enter the Blue Hall accompanied by trumpet and organ music. Champagne is served, and a toast to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is made (6:40), followed by a toast to Alfred Nobel (7:59). The evening’s entertainment, ‘Floral Transformations’, starts with the Allmänna Sången Choir placing flowers at the table of honour (12:02, 22:03). The main course is then served (31:32), followed by the choir singing Swedish folks songs (36:24). Dessert is served after ‘Princess Primavera’s Plantation Parade’ (39:01) and a traditional ‘ice-cream parade’ (48:10). Banquet speeches are given by the 2005 Laureates: Barry J. Marshall, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine (52:24), Robert H. Grubbs, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (56:40), Roy J. Glauber, Nobel Laureate in Physics (59:57), and Robert J. Aumann, Economics Laureate (1:05:20). The guests from the table of honour then leave the Blue Hall (1:10:05) for after dinner dancing in the Golden Hall (1:12:37).
