This is the press programme for Nobel Week in Stockholm. You will need to apply for accreditation for some of the activities during the week. Spaces for the Nobel Prize award ceremony and banquet are very limited.

Press conference for Nobel Week

Meet the chef and the pastry chef for the Nobel Prize banquet, whose names will be announced at the press conference. You will also hear from students at Beckmans College of Design who have interpreted the Nobel Prizes via fashion creations. The detailed press programme for the week will also be handed out.

Final for the project “Help a scientist” – 2024 medicine laureate Victor Ambros participates

Location: Nobel Prize Museum, Stortorget 2, Old Town, Stockholm

In the project “Help a scientist”, students are given the opportunity to try out real research in collaboration with top scientists in Sweden. This year the project has focused on quantum dots. One teacher and two students per school are invited to a full day closing conference at the Nobel Prize Museum. At 14:45–15:30, 2024 medicine laureate Victor Ambros will participate and talk to the students.

6 December

Guided tour Konserthuset Stockholm (Stockholm Concert Hall)

Konserthuset Stockholm is a neoclassical masterpiece and, every year, the arena for the Nobel Prize award ceremony. Join a guided tour with a special focus on what happens in the building on 10 December when the prizes are being awarded.

Artefacts from the Nobel Prize laureates  

Location: Nobel Prize Museum, Stortorget 2, Old Town, Stockholm

In the morning, the Nobel Prize laureates gather at the Nobel Prize Museum. As a tradition they hand over an artefact to the museum and sign a chair. The new artefacts will be on display in the museum for media. Curators from the museum will tell the stories of the objects. (The laureates will not participate). Photo and video opportunities for media.

Sneak peek: Nobel Week Lights

Sneak peek of the artworks and meet some of the artists of this year’s Nobel Week Lights. The last preparations are made, and the artworks are tested. Warm clothes and good shoes are recommended. The artwork at the City Hall – Leading Lights – is a tribute to the achievements and discoveries of female Nobel Prize laureates. It includes an image of this year’s literature laureate, Han Kang. She will also be featured in the artwork De Aderton at Klara Mälarstrand.

Photo and video opportunities for media. There will be two press tours: one on 6 December 16:30–17:30 (a sneak peek the night before it opens) and one on 9 December at 18:00–19:00.

A beautiful evening of recitals of texts written by female Nobel Prize laureates in literature that are presented in the artwork De Aderton (one of the artworks in Nobel Week Lights). Texts from Grazia Deledda, Annie Ernaux, Han Kang and Olga Tokarczuk will be read in Swedish and their original language by different experts.

During the prize award ceremony, the Nobel Prize laureates receive a diploma and medal from HM The King. Speeches are given by representatives from the prize awarding institutions. The speeches can be obtained against embargo via [email protected]

Nobel reading with Han Kang at The Royal Dramatic Theatre

As every year, the Royal Dramatic Theater pays attention to this year’s prize laureate in literature with an evening of reading, conversation and music. The evening begins with a conversation about Han Kang’s writing between Yukiko Duke and the author, translator and literary critic Kristoffer Leandoer. Next, a talk between Yukiko and Han Kang. Actors Karin Franz Körlof, Elin Klinga, Livia Millhagen, Magnus Roosmann and Andreas Rothlin Svensson read selected texts. Music with pianist Roland Pöntinen. The event will be in both English and Swedish.

For the first time, the Nobel Prize Museum is displaying a large selection of items from its collection of artefacts from Nobel Prize laureates. These objects tell stories of remarkable discoveries and life achievements. More than 250 artefacts bear witness to revolutionary inventions, courageous peace efforts, groundbreaking ideas and innovative literature.
