The floral decorations in the Blue Hall of the Stockholm City Hall this year were arranged by the theme 'Bridges of Stockholm', inspired from Stockholm's proximity to water.

The flower bridges are being decorated.

The table of honour was decorated with 20 flower-bridges and fruit bowls of various heights.

The flowers, numbering about 3,500, were roses, carnations, spray roses and hortensias in deep red, red, cerise and pink.

In the kitchen, the chefs prepare a three course dinner for the about 1,250 guests.

The Nobel Banquet starter: cream of cauliflower soup, mosaic of red king crab, peas and lemon pickled cauliflower florets.

The main course at the Nobel Banquet: spiced loin of red deer, carrot terrine, salt-baked golden beets, smoked pearl onions, potato purÃ©e and game jus.

A total of 43 chefs and 260 servers work with the banquet meal during the evening.

The tables in the Blue Hall are covered with som 500 metres of linen cloth.

The tables are set with the Nobel tableware created by three Swedish designers, Karin Björquist (Rörstrand/Gustavsberg), Gunnar Cyrén (Orrefors) and Ingrid Dessau (Klässbols Linneväveri).

The table of honor is laid with meticulous precision. The more than 60 tables comprise no fewer than some 7,000 porcelain pieces, 5,400 glasses and 10,000 items of silverware.

Twelve florists decorate the City Hall with a total of 15,000 flowers.
