Cristiani Machado
Cristiani Machado is Vice-President of Education, Information, and Communication at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. She is a specialist in public policies and government management.
Cristiani Machado has been Vice-President of Education, Information, and Communication at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) since November 2018. She is a medical doctor who graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), with a residency in preventive and social medicine from the National School of Public Health Sergio Arouca at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Ensp/Fiocruz), Master’s and PhD in collective health from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), and postdoctoral studies in political science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA.
Between 1995 and 2002, she worked as a public health physician at the municipal, state, and federal levels (at the Ministry of Health). She is a specialist in public policies and government management. A researcher at Ensp since 2002, she coordinated the graduate programme in public health from 2016 to 2018. She was a member of the Deliberative Council of the Brazilian Association of Collective Health – Abrasco (2018-2021). A research fellow of the National Research Council for the Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), she has experience in research and teaching in the field of collective health, with emphasis on policies, planning, and health management, and comparative analysis of social protection and health systems. Her academic production comprises more than 100 scientific articles and book chapters.
