Jacqueline Goes is the officially appointed science ambassador in Brazil responsible for leading the group that sequenced the COVID genome in 48 hours.

Goes graduated in biomedicine from the Bahian School of Medicine and Public Health (EBMSP), she has a master’s degree in biotechnology in health and investigative medicine from the Gonçalo Moniz Research Institute – Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (IGM-FIOCRUZ) and a PhD in human pathology from the Federal University of Bahia in association with IGM-FIOCRUZ.

Goes develops research in ​​emerging arboviruses and the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2).

She is an assistant professor of the biomedicine course and a researcher at the EBMSP Research and Innovation Center. She coordinates the Genetic Sequencing Collaborative Network in Brazil – SEQV Network Team Halo, a project of the UN Verified Initiative for scientific dissemination and combating misinformation about COVID-19 on social media.

Goes was elected one of the 20 successful women of 2022 in Brazil by Forbes magazine and was most recently considered for the Amélia Império Hamburger Women in Science Award from the Chamber of Deputies.
