Vinícius Soares is the president of the National Association of Postgraduates. He holds a degree in biology and a master's degree in applied cellular and molecular biology from the University of Pernambuco (UPE). He is currently pursuing a PhD in public health at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

He is currently pursuing a PhD in public health at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).

Soares is a council member of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and of the Higher Education Personnel Improvement Coordination (Capes). Within ANPG, he leads discussions and initiatives on issues such as the expansion and strengthening of postgraduate programmes with the democratisation of access to these programmes, the valorisation of young researchers with recognition of their rights (student, labour, and social security), as well as policies for student assistance and retention.
