Lebone Nkhumeleni University of Preotoria

Lebone Nkhumeleni is a Lecturer at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Business Management focusing on strategy and business management at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is also a PhD scholar with a research focus on strategy practices for impact investment decisions.

Lebone Nkhumeleni is currently a Lecturer at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Business Management focusing on strategy and business management at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She is also a PhD scholar with a research focus on strategy practices for impact investment decisions.

She previously worked as a specialist in corporate social responsibility at South Africa’s largest listed property investment company. During her tenure she delivered social investment strategies for the company’s portfolio and facilitated cross-functional initiatives for sustainability and transformation reporting including, but not limited to; Carbon Disclosure Project, FTSE/JSE Responsible Investment index and Broad-based Economic Empowerment.

Her background in diverse business and non-governmental environments includes working with international NGOs focusing on human rights, active community citizenship and stakeholder relations with government departments and industry associations.

Lebone has an academic background in industrial sociology and management from Rhodes University and holds an MPhil in Responsible Leadership from the University of Pretoria. She has also served as the Associate Co-Ordinator for the South African SDG Hub in 2018 and is a regular contributor for the NationBuilder Corporate Social Investment Benchmarking Tool; a South African-led tool that assists organisations to assess the impact and effectiveness of social investment strategies.
