Associate Professor Kenneth Mak is Director of Medical Services at the Ministry of Health Singapore. In this role, he oversees the provision of all public health services in Singapore. Kenneth Mak will participate on-site.

Associate Professor Kenneth Mak is Director of Medical Services at the Ministry of Health Singapore. In this role, he oversees the provision of all public health services in Singapore. As the Chief Medical Officer in Singapore, Mak advises Singapore’s COVID-19 Multi-Ministry Taskforce as well as other governmental agencies in crafting the overall strategy for managing the outbreak and oversees the public health response to combat spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Mak is a familiar face domestically as he appears regularly in the media conferences of the COVID-19 Multi-Ministry Taskforce. He works closely with the Regional Health Systems and healthcare institutions in Singapore on care integration as well as on Singapore’s long-term healthcare transformation strategy. This includes working on Healthier SG, Singapore’s national population health strategy to improve the state of health of its aging population.

Mak was trained as a general surgeon with subspecialty interests in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, as well as in trauma surgery. He maintains his clinical practice as a Senior Consultant surgeon in the Department of Surgery, at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Singapore.
