David Strathairn

Actor David Strathairn has appeared in many films including 'The Spiderwick Chronicles' (2008), 'The Bourne Ultimatum' (2007), Steven Spielberg’s 'Lincoln' (2012), and Chloe Zhou’s 'Nomadland' (2020).

David Strathairn had an extensive resume of supporting roles before being cast in the lead as newsman Edward R. Murrow in George Clooney’s ‘Good Night and Good Luck’ (2005). For that film, he garnered numerous award mentions, including a 2005 Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He has been a longtime collaborator with the writer/filmmaker John Sayles and has appeared in seven of Sayles’ films. Strathairn has appeared in many films including ‘The Spiderwick Chronicles’ (2008), ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’ (2007), Steven Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’ (2012), and Chloe Zhou’s ‘Nomadland’ (2020). He earned an Emmy award for his role in HBO’s TV film ‘Temple Grandin’ (2010), and a nomination for his role as John Dos Passos in ‘Hemingway & Gelhorn’ (2012). He has continued to perform on the stage as well, twice at ACT in San Francisco, and on Broadway in ‘The Heiress’ (2012). His involvement with Bryan Doerries’ Theater of War Productions since its inception continues to be among the most vital and rewarding experiences of his acting career.
