Eduardo Brondizio will be taking part in the Nobel Prize Summit’s academic science sessions.

Eduardo S. Brondizio is Distinguished Professor of Anthropology at Indiana University-Bloomington. Brondizio’s research combines long-term field-based work with rural and urban populations in Amazônia and collaborative research on global environmental/climate change, including the development of multi-scalar approaches leveraging on the contributions of the social sciences and Indigenous and local knowledge to understanding and addressing regional and global issues. In Amazônia and/or globally, Brondizio has examined the impact of development policies and commodity markets on household decisions and landscape change; rural-urban social networks and urbanization; the compounding effects of climate change and inequality on rural and urban areas; the regional and global contributions of place-based sustainability initiatives; and multi-level environmental governance. He co-chaired the IPBES Global Assessment on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services. Brondizio is Editor-in-Chief of Global Environmental Change: Human and Policy Dimensions; elected member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and foreign member of the French Academy of Agriculture.
