Rachel Kuo is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Media and Cinema Studies and Institute of Communications Research

Rachel Kuo is an Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the Department of Media and Cinema Studies and Institute of Communications Research. Her research focuses on the intersection of technology and politics with an emphasis on race and social movements. Her current work includes research on the historical, transnational, and geopolitical contexts of mis- and disinformation.

She is a founding affiliate of the Center for Critical Race and Digital Studies, current fellow at the Center for Democracy and Technology, and co-founder of the Asian American Feminist Collective. She also serves as the Research Facilitator for the Asian American Disinformation Table. She holds a PhD in Media, Culture and Communication from New York University.
