Ann Legeby is a professor in applied urban design at the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH, School of Architecture. Her research concerns society-space relations, to increase understanding about the role of architecture in social segregation and unequal living conditions, including the conditions for everyday life. There is a strong focus upon sustainability and to reduce inequalities.

Urban analysis is central, and methodologies and theories are developed about how to analyse, model, and visualise urban form, defined by architecture and urban design, and how it relates to urban processes. Several of the research projects are conducted in close collaboration with municipalities and other public actors.

Ann has been leading the research programme Applied Urban Design (The Arwidsson Foundation & KTH) since 2018. Other ongoing research projects that Ann works with are Mapurban (JPI Urban Europe/Formas), Mistra Sport & Outdoors (Mistra), Senseable Stockholm Lab (City of Stockholm), The Duved Model (Vinnova), Decreasing Segregation in Uppsala (Delmos), and Equal Living Conditions (Vinnova). Alongside her research, Ann teaches at KTH and other universities. Ann is also still engaged in practice, at Sweco Architects in Gothenburg.
