Andrea Spehar
Andrea Spehar is an associate professor in political science and director of the Centre on Global Migration at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
Andrea Spehar is an associate professor in political science and director of the Centre on Global Migration (CGM) at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden.
Spehar’s research interests are migration and migrant integration in a broad policy and administrative context. Her work has appeared, among others, in the Journal of European Public Policy, Comparative European Politics, Citizenship Studies, International Migration and Migration Studies.
Spehar has been awarded research funding from various national and international funding agencies. She is currently the principal investigator of the research programme ‘Refugee Migration and Cities: Social Institutions, Political Governance and Integration in Jordan, Turkey and Sweden’ founded by the Swedish Research Council. Spehar is also participating in the European Union’s Horizon 2020 project MERGING which addresses housing for immigrants and community integration in Europe and beyond.
Spehar is coordinator of a ten-year-long Swedish research program within migration and integration. She is co-director of the Swedish Social Research Council’s Graduate School for Migration and Integration. Spehar is an editorial board member of the Nordic Journal of Migration Research and International Migration. She holds various board and committee positions.
