Interview with the 1995 Nobel Laureate in Physics, Martin L. Perl, 27 August 2008. The interviewer is Adam Smith, Editor-in-Chief of Nobelprize.org.

Martin Pearl describes the evening courses in physics which lead to his masters at Columbia, the graduate paper to which fellow Nobel Laureate Isidor Rabi added his name (9:35), and the fact that “most of one’s research life has got to be spent doing mistakes” (14:47). He also explains his penchant for giving talks on subjects about which he would like to know more (19:35), his interest in dark matter (22:16) and gives advice regarding creativity (33:12).
