Hans Spemann, prof zoology, Freiburg, DE, was nominated for his systematic work on determination in various areas of the developing embryo. Thomas Morgan, prof experimental zoology, Columbia university, New York, NY, US, was nominated for his experimetnal and histological investigations of the morphological elements, and genetical investigations of Drosophila. Nominator was R. Rössle, prof, director Pathological Institute, Berlin University, DE. Nomination was declared invalid by the Nobel Committee.
