Nomination for Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine
Year:1944
Number:7 - 0

Motivation:Genichi Kato, prof physiology, Keio Gijuku University, Tokyo, JP, and Tasaki, JP, were nominated for work on the physiology of the nervous system, as well as work on isolation of single nerve fibers and muscle fibers and demonstration of the existence of reflex excitatory fibers and reflex inhibitory fibers. Nominator was Prof A. V. Muralt, Bern, CH. Nomination was declared invalid by the Nobel Committee.

Comments: A. Muralt was very negative as to the integrity and impartiality of the Nobel Prize, and only reluctantly suggested numerous candidates (Alfred Vogt and W.R. Hess in Switzerland; Caspersson, Rein, Richards), the two main of which were Kato and Tasaki.
