Motivation:Dr Hendrik C. Dam (NP med 1943), Polytechnic Institute, Copenhagen, DK was nominated for the discovery of vitamin K. Gaston Ramon, dept head, Pasteur Institute, Garches, FR, was nominated for work on anatoxins. Ernest W. Goodpasture, prof pathology, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nasville, TN, USA, was nominated for studies of viruses, especially studies of inclusion bodies in fowl pox. Nominator was Prof Niels Dungal, Reykjavik, IS. Nomination was declared invalid by the Nobel Committee.
