Motivation:Conrad A. Elvehjem, prof agricultural chemistry, Madison, WI, USA, was nominated together with R. J. Madden and F. M. Strong, both of University of Wisconsin, College of Agriculture Studies, Madison, WI, USA, for showing the importance of nicotinic acid in treatment of "black tongue" in dogs and in pellegra in man. Nominator was O. Borrino, University of Perugia, Perugia, IT. Nomination was declared invalid by the Nobel Committee.
