Princess Wilhelmina's full name was Wilhelmina Helena Pauline Maria. She was queen of The Netherlands from 1890 to 1948, when poor health made her abdicate the throne to her daughter Juliana. During World War II she made herself the symbol of the Dutch resistance to German occupation through her radio broadcasts from London. She was influential in maintaining The Netherlands' neutrality during World War I. |
