Motivation:Richter was chairman of the German Peace Association. One of the central figures of the early German peace movement. He attended international peace conferences and presided over the peace conference in Hamburg in 1897. Moscheles had been working for peace since he became a member of the Peace Association in 1878. Member of the Committee of the International Arbitration and Peace Association in 1880 and executive chairman of the Association from 1897. Promoted peace, international arbitration and pacifism.
