How do we deal with the unknown? Risk and uncertainty to be discussed in Gothenburg at the Nobel Week Dialogue

23 October 2019 View in Swedish

How do we live with uncertainty? What are the biggest risks facing society? Can risks be seen as opportunities? These are some of the questions to be tackled when Nobel Laureates, scientists, artists and policy makers meet on 9 December for the Nobel Week Dialogue in Gothenburg. Registration opens today for the yearly full-day event that is part of the official Nobel Week programme.

The 2019 Nobel Week Dialogue will put a spotlight on how we deal with the unknown. Nobel Laureates from the scientific fields will give their perspectives on the theme together with Tawakkol Karman, 2011 Peace Laureate. The speakers and guests will tackle fundamental questions about how uncertainty and risk affect our society, our culture and our daily lives.

Several Nobel Laureates will participate including Joh Polanyi (Chemistry 1986), Peter Doherty (Medicine 1996), Françoise Barré-Sinoussi (Medicine 2008), Tawakkol Karman (Peace 2011) and Steven Chu (Physics 1997).

In total, more than 20 panellists will take part in the programme. A full list of speakers will be published together with the program at: nobelprize.org/into-the-unknown
