Inge Thulin new board member at Nobel Prize Outreach

Inge Thulin, a leading international business executive, is joining the board of Nobel Prize Outreach. The company, which is part of the growing public activities connected to the Nobel Prize, works to spread knowledge about Nobel Prize-awarded achievements and to stimulate interest in science, literature and peace efforts throughout the world.

Vidar Helgesen, executive director of the Nobel Foundation and chairman of Nobel Prize Outreach, commented on the appointment: “Inge Thulin has long experience of working in the international arena, and we look forward to benefiting from his knowledge in the development of Nobel Prize Outreach. The company invites people from all over the world to participate in meetings together with Nobel Prize laureates to discuss issues of great importance to the future. It also spreads information about the Nobel Prize on a global basis through various digital platforms.”

Inge Thulin, who is originally from Sweden, began working for the science-based American multinational 3M in 1979, holding a number of positions around the world and advancing to executive vice president for all of its international operations. Between 2012 and 2018 he was 3M’s president and CEO, subsequently also becoming chairman of the board. In 2018-2019 − the final year before his retirement from 3M − he was executive chairman of the board. For a number of years, Mr Thulin has also served on several other boards, including those of the Merck pharmaceutical company, Patricia Industries, the World Childhood Foundation and the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in New York. He has been an advisor to various US governments on issues related to global trade and has received several prestigious awards over the years.
