With the aim to raise increased public engagement in science a Nobel Prize Series is arranged on March 20-21 in Dubai with the main topic “Learning for Life”. By inviting speakers and participants from different parts of society we aim for inspiring sessions.
The programme combines conference, lectures, roundtables, an exhibition and other meeting spaces. Nobel Prize Series Dubai 2016 is produced by Nobel Media and the Nobel Museum in partnership with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and the kind support of Nobel International Partner 3M.
There will be three distinguished Nobel Laureates participating in the events: Professor Martin Chalfie, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2008, Professor George F. Smoot, Nobel Prize in Physics 2006 and Professor Kurt Wüthrich, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2002.
The programme offers many opportunities to engage. The lectures aim for encouraging future generations to curiosity and outside the box thinking by letting students meet Nobel Laureates and learn about their creativity and perseverance. The conference on engaging society in science-related issues features a unique constellation of Nobel Laureates and other experts. The exhibition “Exploring Life” created by the Nobel Museum has already attracted large audiences since its opening on February 21. The exhibition puts focus on the importance of understanding life and the human body.
The programme also includes closed sessions such as a high-level executive roundtable meeting featuring a dialogue between a number of representatives from organisations, the public sector, business profiles, elite researchers as well as Nobel Laureates. Examples of themes to be explored at the roundtable include: What are the desired goals of science education? How does increased knowledge of science benefit society? How will the role of educators change in the future?
