An agreement has been signed by Nobel Media and Future Challenges, Science, Technology and Innovation Commission to host a Nobel Prize Dialogue for the first time in Santiago, Chile in January 2019. The one-day meeting will bring together Nobel Laureates, world-leading scientists, policy makers and a general audience to discuss topical issues relevant to the world.
“The Nobel Prize and the achievements of the Nobel Laureates, such as the literary works of Gabriela Mistral and Pablo Neruda, inspire people all over the world. Through our global meetings and outreach programs we stimulate interest in science, literature and peace in line with Alfred Nobel’s vision and legacy to the greatest benefit of mankind,” says Laura Sprechmann, Deputy CEO of Nobel Media AB.
Nobel Prize Dialogue in Santiago will be held in connection to the annual global event Futures Congress.
“We are very happy with the signing of this agreement which is a result of two years of work, with many a complex meeting, in which we had to demonstrate not only the ability this event has to connect with citizens, but also the quality of Chilean science. For the past seven years our objective has been to serve as a bridge between citizens and the elite of scientific and cultural thought as well as art. This agreement with the world’s most important scientific outreach institution is one of great pride which will allow us to organize many activities in Chile with the presence of an interesting group of Nobel Laureates,“ says Nicolás Fernández, Executive Director of the Futures Congress.
“We look forward to bringing Nobel Laureates and other experts to Chile in 2019. Having a Nobel Prize Dialogue in connection to the Futures Congress will lead to many interesting meetings and discussions important for our future. We share the same ambition to deepen the dialogue between the scientific community and the rest of society,” says Laura Sprechmann, Deputy CEO of Nobel Media AB.
Since its inauguration in 2011, the Futures Congress has established itself as a flagship global event across Latin America.
