Press release from the Nobel Foundation

Nobel Prize medals and diplomas delivered

9 December 2020 View in Swedish

The Nobel Prize medal and diploma were presented to physics laureate Andrea Ghez in Los Angeles late in the afternoon of 9 December. This means that all laureates have received their medal and diploma apart from the World Food Programme, which will receive the Nobel Peace Prize in Rome on the Nobel Day.

“This year it has been particularly important to select Nobel Prize laureates and award prizes. The pandemic has subjected us all to difficult obstacles. We have been reminded of the importance of cross-border cooperation in resolving humanitarian crises and that, with the help of science, we can find solutions to the challenges we face. This is demonstrated especially well by the 2020 laureates, to whom we are paying tribute on this Nobel Day. There will be ceremonies from Oslo and Stockholm, where we will get a glimpse of how it looked when the laureates received their medals and diplomas around the world during this past week”, says Lars Heikensten, Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation.
