Press invitation: World press freedom day 2024

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Embassy of Sweden, One World Echoes in Oslo and the Nobel Peace Center cordially invite you to mark World Press Freedom Day at the Nobel Peace Center, Friday 3 May. 

3 May is World Press Freedom Day; a day to celebrate the fundamental principle of press freedom and to defend the media workers facing attacks on their independence and their safety.

To mark the day, we invite to a presentation of the new World Press Freedom Index – a snapshot of the media freedom situation in the world – and take a closer look at two of the worst countries for journalist: Iran and Russia. A light lunch will be served. Welcome!

The event takes place at the Nobel Peace Center, Oslo City Hall Square. Registration is required. Please register here to secure your seat. 

NB! Friday 3 May at 19:00 The film Son of the Mullah by Nahid Persson Sarvestani will be screened at Cinemateket as part of the International Human Rights Film Festival Echoes in Oslo. The film will be followed by Q&A with the filmmaker Nahid and the director of Iran Human Rights Mahmood Amiry-Moghaddam and it will be moderated by journalist Sevda Barazesh.
