Press release from the Nobel Foundation

Prize award ceremonies, artistic light installations and conversations about health – the Nobel Week press programme has now been published

5 November 2024 View in Swedish

The press programme for the Nobel Week in Oslo and Stockholm has now been published, and accreditation has been opened for media representatives who wish to apply to attend the award ceremony and banquet on 10 December.

Since 1901, Nobel Laureates have received their diplomas and medals at ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo. The Nobel Day, 10 December, begins with the award ceremony for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureates in Oslo. This is followed by the award ceremony in Stockholm for the laureates in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and economic sciences. In the evening, there will be banquets in both Oslo and Stockholm to celebrate this year’s laureates. But the celebration of the laureates includes many more activities that media representatives can attend.

Oslo
In Oslo, the media are invited to a press conference, a torchlight procession, a party where seventh graders get to meet this year’s laureate and then the opening of a new peace prize exhibition at the Nobel Peace Center. There will also be a Nobel Peace Prize Forum, where experts and laureates will discuss the danger of nuclear war.

The banquet in Norway may only be attended by media representatives who have been invited.

Stockholm
In Stockholm the programme includes press conferences, Nobel lectures and the Nobel Week Dialogue, this year on the theme of “The Future of Health”. The media are invited to look at the artefacts that the laureates donate to the Nobel Prize Museum, and there will be numerous guided tours of the artistic light installations in this year’s Nobel Week Lights festival.
