“Today the Nobel Foundation has learned about developments made over the past 24 hours with the work of restoring the Swedish Academy. What has happened, in our assessment, is a step in the right direction,” says the Chairman of the Nobel Foundation, Carl-Henrik Heldin.
The Nobel Foundation will continue to closely follow the progress of the Swedish Academy, focusing specifically on its role of awarding the Nobel Prize in Literature.
The Nobel Foundation has overall responsibility for the Nobel Prize and an obligation to fulfil the intentions of Alfred Nobel’s will. That is why the Nobel Foundation over the past months has had a close dialogue with various representatives from the Swedish Academy and the Royal Court of Sweden. The aim has been to contribute in helping the Swedish Academy restore trust as a Nobel Prize awarding institution.
