The Nobel Week 2017 in Stockholm – information for media

General Information

The events during the Nobel Week are organized by the Nobel Foundation, the Nobel Museum or the prize awarding institutions. This means that there are several different institutions to contact for the various events. Please note that there is no general accreditation valid for the entire week, each organizer must be contacted separately.

Media is welcome to cover the various events of the 2017 Nobel Week. This information aims to give an overview of the programme which will include press conferences, lectures, and other happenings. The first event of the Nobel Week is a Press Conference at the Nobel Museum on December 5, covering the Nobel Week in general. On December 10 the Nobel Week culminates in the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet.

Press Centre

During the Nobel Week, the Nobel Museum in the Old Town will host a Press Centre. Wifi and a work station will be available.

The Nobel Prize Award Ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall starts at 16.30.

The Nobel Banquet at the Stockholm City Hall starts at 19.00.

The application deadline for the limited number of accreditations available for print and photo journalists to attend the Nobel Day is November 6.

Print journalists

The Nobel Foundation provides 12 seats at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet for foreign print journalists and 7 seats for domestic print journalists. An application for participation is no guarantee of actually obtaining a ticket. Notification of ticket allocation will be made in late November. The Nobel Banquet fee is SEK 2700. Detailed information will be sent to journalists who have been granted access to any of the events.

Pool photographers

A maximum of 10 still photographers from international and Swedish photo agencies will be allowed in the photo pool at the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet, respectively. Accreditations to the participants in the Photo Pool will be handed out on December 10 by representatives from the Nobel Foundation.

SVT, Swedish Public Television is providing broadcast services (stand-up positions etc) at the event locations on December 10. Please note these positions are not a/v during the live events themselves, but in conjunction. General information

Dress Code

Nobel Prize Award Ceremony: white tie and tails, and long evening gown for ladies. At the Nobel Banquet, gentlemen are required to wear white tie and tails, and long evening gown for ladies. Dress code for pool photographers is dark suit/long dress or dark two-piece suit at both events.

Hotel Reservations

Kindly note that it is often difficult to find hotel rooms in Stockholm at this time. You are, therefore, advised to make your own booking as soon as possible.
