Press release from the Nobel Peace Center

The peace dove flies again

11 May 2022 View in Norwegian

This Friday, the white peace dove will again fly over Oslo City Hall square. It will carry “The Good News of the Week”, reminding us that the world is moving in the right direction, even in times of trouble.

At noon on Friday 13 May, a white dove will be released from the windows of the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo. As the dove flies across the City Hall square, the John Lennon song Give peace a chance will play from the bell towers.

Every Friday from mid-May to mid-October, the Nobel Peace Center will release a peace dove, together with The Good News of the Week, to contribute to hope and optimism.

“The white dove is probably our strongest symbol of peace and hope, which is needed more than ever in a world that seems unsafe and unstable”, said Nobel Peace Center’s Executive Director Kjersti Fløgstad.

The first peace dove was released from the Nobel Peace Center on VE Day two years ago, and this will be the third season for the white dove. Visitors can follow the event live at the Oslo City Hall square or via the Nobel Peace Center’s Facebook page.
