Prize announcement
Announcement of the 2004 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel to Finn E. Kydland and Edward C. Prescott, presented by Professor Gunnar Öquist, Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, on 11 October 2004.
The announcement was followed by an interview with Professor Lars Calmfors, Member of the Prize Committee, about the 2004 Economics Laureates. Interviewer was Eva Krutmeijer, Head of Information at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
Nobel Prizes and laureates
Six prizes were awarded for achievements that have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind. The 12 laureates' work and discoveries range from proteins' structures and machine learning to fighting for a world free of nuclear weapons.
