Prize announcement
Announcement of the 2016 Prize in Economic Sciences by Professor Göran K. Hansson, Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, on 10 October 2016.
Information about the Laureates and their work was presented by Professor Per Strömberg, Chairman of the Economic Sciences Prize Committee. Laureate Bengt Holmström joined the press conference via phone and answered media questions.
“Contracts are really fundamental – we see them everywhere in society”. Immediately following the announcement, Professor Per Strömberg, Chairman of the Economic Sciences Prize Committee, was interviewed by freelance journalist Henrik Höjer regarding the 2016 Prize in Economic Sciences.
Nobel Prizes and laureates
Six prizes were awarded for achievements that have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind. The 12 laureates' work and discoveries range from proteins' structures and machine learning to fighting for a world free of nuclear weapons.
