Nobel Prize Conversations

”I immediately fell in love with the idea of the sun and the planet and what is really out there – that is what got me hooked”

Listen to a conversation with Kip Thorne, conducted in November 2020, covering Albert Einstein’s importance to the field of science, whether time travel is actually possible, and what it was like to be the physics guru inside the blockbuster film Interstellar.

Thorne also tells us about his childhood dream of becoming a snow plow operator and how his mother ultimately inspired him to become a physicist. Thorne is now more active than ever. He is very passionate about inspiring the younger generation and has been a mentor to over 50 PhD students.

The host of this podcast is nobelprize.org’s Adam Smith.

Nobel Prize Conversations was produced with the support of 3M, ABB, Ericsson and Scania.
